Pages

I first was turned on to Pages several years ago, when a friend submitted a photo of me to a contest the magazine was hosting in conjunction with Fischerspooner to represent the band in print. Yes, let that sink in for a moment. The picture actually made it all the way to the final five, but didn’t end up winning. You’d never know it was me, truthfully, as it’s a blurry shot. Still, it was pretty cool, and at the time I was obviously quite excited at the prospect of being in a magazine!

At the time, I signed up to receive their digital issues, and despite not winning the contest, I’ve always enjoyed them! :) They cover some very cool topics. Pages primarily deals with fashion & photography, while sister magazine Groupie dives into the music world. I haven’t really looked into the third Pages offering, Monkeysay, but it looks like it’s about skating. The current issue of Groupie has lots of year end lists (we all love those, don’t we?) as well as an interview with Franz Ferdinand about their new material. Good reading!

  1. Very cool!

I think Fischerspooner is a fun band/DJ/whatever. ElectroClash gets a bad rap, deserved or not, but I still enjoy his CDs.

    Like the new template too!

  2. Oh, I think Electroclash deserves the derision, but Fischerspooner were smart enough to evolve beyond it. Odyssey was miles beyond #1 (their first album). There are a lot of bands unfairly lumped in with Electroclash, like Mt Simms or Ladytron that were MUCH better than any of the ‘real’ electroclash bands.
