Gin Wigmore
Oh I like this, I really do! Gin Wigmore is a New Zealander with talent absolutely bubbling within, just waiting to be tapped and released. I can really see this girl becoming a huge act in the next year. As they say in the UK, she’s hotly tipped! Just you wait, 2009 will be the year of Gin!
Speaking of Gin, her voice sounds as though it’s absolutely soaking in it. You could draw similarities with Macy Gray, except for the better music and lack of insanity. Hopefully we won’t see Gin wearing a dress promoting her new album, at any rate.
She released an EP simply and straightforwardly titled Extended Play, which was released in Australia back in August. No word just yet on when it will see the light of day here, but I’m hoping soon. In the meanwhile, one of my favorite DJ/remixers, Peter Kirk a.k.a. The Outlaw DJs, took on her track ‘These Roses’ with interesting results. Certainly not what you’d think he might have done to it. You’ll just have to listen to make up your own mind. And be sure to check out Gin, while you’re at it.
