The Brit Awards
This fabulous Pet Shop Boys closed out the recent Brit Awards with this amazing medley culled (mostly) from their back catalog. It all began with my favorite PSB’s song of all time, ‘Suburbia’ (mainly due to the way Tennant sings the actual word – sah-bah-bee-aahh), followed by new single ‘Love, etc.’. No awards show is complete without a few poorly chosen guest vocalists, so Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers joined Tennant and Lowe onstage for 3 tracks.
The most disastrous of these two pairings was Gaga, unquestionably. She came out dressed in what looked like my grandmother’s china, and screamed her portion of ‘What Have I Done To Deserve This’, then sadly came back for closer ‘West End Girls’ and did it all over again. Brandon flowers actually did a decent job on ‘It’s A Sin’, but he’s simply no match for Neil Tennant. Thankfully, once Neil joined in on the verse Brandon’s voice was effectively drowned out.
Not that I needed additional reason to be excited for the new album, but this did quite nicely!

This sounds a bit narrow minded to me. I was pleasantly surprised by Lady GaGa – very good voice, her performance fitted the show really well. And Brandon was simply excellent! Amazing show…
Hmm, I respect your opinion Jiri, but not liking Lady GaGa or Brandon Flowers doesn’t make me narrow-minded. Just a person with an opinion! :) To me, she was downright awful. Would have much preferred to hear Neil Tennant solo.
OK, I actually watched the whole show on TV last night and I have to say, GaGa wasn’t that bad at all. The medley itself kind of sucked though.
Duffy was adorable. Kings of Leon sounded great. Kinda cute award show actually.
The medley sucked but Lady GaGa wasn’t bad?!?! Ceci, I now officially declare you to be living in an alternate universe. ;)
