Monday Weds Blog Roundup

Written By: Sean on February 25, 2009 2 Comments

In the aftermath of this weekend’s festivities, I realized that I’d lost my knack for staying up ’till 4 & screaming over loud music until I was hoarse. I came to that conclusion because the effects have lasted far longer than they used to. At one time, I could shake it off in less than a day. Now that I’m an old fogey, I’m shot for days.

At any rate, that’s why the blog has gone on silent running for the last few days. Today is my day to catch up, but I thought I’d start out by catching up with my fellows who have had a lot more to say over the last few days than I have.

Dave over at Rawkblog has posted his excellent collection of live Elliott Smith cover tunes once again. He recently moved from Blogger to his own domain because of a conflagration with Google/Blogger over posting these same songs, so pay him a visit and let him know how much you appreciate his efforts!

Just Watch The Sky is a great blog that believes in being succinct. They post a song with nothing but a brief lyrical excerpt, but it’s a beautiful blog nonetheless.

Linda at Speed of Dark has a great review of the new Beirut EPs. She offers a strong counterpoint to those that have expressed disappointment over them in comparison to his last album.

Victoria at Muruch has an interesting post up inspired by the recent news of a domestic squabble between Chris Brown and Rihanna. Are other musicians actually defending abusers?

Ceci put together an awesomely cheesey 80s mix tape for all to enjoy over at I Am The Crime.

Thanks for the link! It takes a lot to make me angry, but this was too much. I hope more people take notice.

It’s a disturbing notion. I hadn’t really paid much attention to that whole event, if only because I’m so sick of tragedy being turned into headlines, but after reading what you wrote it def made me think.
