Outside Lands Lineup Announced

While I’m not crazy about those headliners, I respect Outside Lands for continuing to attempt a diverse lineup. It did make for a wacky mix in the crowd last year, I’ll say that much.
Pearl Jam are one of those bands I respect, but don’t enjoy listening to. They seem like more than capable musicians, but I just don’t like what they make. Dave Matthews…might as well have booked Jack Johnson again. Incubus, meh. I do like Beastie Boys, like all good white suburbanites. I could definitely do without Black Eyed Peas, but I’m glad they’re trying to introduce more hip-hop into the lineup. MIA is a nice ‘get’.
As with most festivals, the gems hide in the supporting lineup. John Vanderslice, The Duke Spirit, Dengue Fever, Calexico, The National, Band of Horses, Thievery Corporation, etc. Besides, seeing these bands perform in Golden Gate Park was awesome, and will be awesome yet again. Nothing can quite describe seeing Radiohead and their fancy light show after dark in the Park. Nothing.

That is the most uninteresting lineup I think they could have possibly put together, short of booking a Sarah McLachlan/Jewel double headlining slot one night.
On the bright side, it’s apparently 1996 again. That means I can change my college major!
well, keep in mind last year had headliners like jack johnson, too. i think they’re going for super eclectic, which could work, but i totally understand where you’re coming from. a lot of those names don’t appeal to me at all. still, it is an entertaining experience.
