Coachella Vids

Written By: Sean on April 19, 2009 No Comment

The first cell phone/camera clips have started filtering in from Coachella. Nothing can replace the experience of seeing these artists in person, but for those that missed the fest this year, they’ll have to do.

Pitchfork has a smattering of videos culled from YouTube available, including this clip of Leonard Cohen performing ‘Hallelujah’. It’s one of the higher quality videos, and is more than listenable. Many of the others are just masses of sound that clump together (like this clip of Franz Ferdinand). I still place John Cale & Jeff Buckley’s versions above Leonard’s, but this is a nice rendition. Though now I can’t help but associate it with its misguided use in ‘Watchmen’ last month, and that makes me sad. I need a bar of mental soap to get that movie out of my head. Perhaps, given time, I’ll heal.
