The Horrors
Wow! The Horrors have seriously stepped up their game. I loved the creepy, Crampsesque goth-garage of their first album, but this is definitely a new and interesting direction to take. Production duties on new album Primary Colours were Chris Cunningham (previously known mostly for his music video work), Craig Silvey and Geoff Barrow of Portishead. Mr. Barrow sounds like an interesting wrench in the works, so I look forward to hearing the rest of this album.
The Horrors will be on the American road for much of May, sharing a stage with The Kills and Magic Wands. My friend Matt saw their Tucson show and said The Horrors were absolutely outstanding, so if they’re coming to your vicinity you should make the investment. The Kills are always killer live, and while I’ve never seen Magic Wands live their new material is pretty great. In fact, I seem to remember Ceci really digging Magic Wands’ first album. Seeing all 3 bands in one sitting could either be totally overwhelming or absolutely amazing. I’m leaning toward option 2.
