Giveaway: Arctic Monkeys DVD

Remember the halcyon days of 2006? When Myspace was mighty and Lilly Allen held the world by her pinky because she had 12 million friends on her profile (a slight exaggeration)? The Arctic Monkeys were forged in the NME fires of that time, and certainly would not be the massive stars they are now without that powerful but ever mysterious Myspace magic that seems to have disappeared as quickly as it came. Honestly, the only friend requests I get now are from Christian Electro Reggae outfits.

Back to AM: The quartet have just released a DVD/CD combo titled Live At the Apollo (no, not THAT Apollo). It’s a 76-minute film documenting the band’s final show of their 2007 tour, at Manchester’s Apollo Theatre. Many hands were involved in bringing it about, including Danny Cohen (This is England) & Nick Fenton (Sigur Ros Heima). It was directed by Richard Ayoade (Mighty Boosh).
