US Royalty
This is another band that’s been sitting in my inbox but for whatever reason I never gave them the time they deserved. Shame on me again, because Elhaam clued me into these guys and she always knows what she’s talking about!
US Royalty are a lot of fun. I’ve caught something of a ‘Blueside’-era Rooney vibe here, a sort of Beach Boys lite. Not such a bad thing, as I actually got quite a bit of mileage out of that first Rooney album. Not that they’re just like Rooney, just that they have that light-hearted, summer love feeling about them. There’s a definite 70s AM influence throughout. I recommend checking out the track ‘Every Summer’ below to get a sense of them.
