The Deer Tracks on Channel M
Yet another band that everyone beside me has heard of, apparently. The Deer Tracks are from Sweden and signed to the brilliant Stockholm-based label Despotz. They played a 30-minute set for Manchester’s Channel M back in March, but it’s been shuffling around my inbox for some time now, unwatched. Shame on me! These folks experiment with some very interesting musical landscapes (don’t let the Davey Havok lookalike in the band scare you off, though his name is David). They seem like a less dissonant version of The Knife, with the more melodic side of Sigur Ros mixed in for good measure. There’s an awkward interview bit at the 16 minute mark, but the music starts up again at 20:35. It’s worth watching, I promise!
