Nite Club
I’m not a Kanye West kind of guy, so I have no idea what the original version of ‘Good Life’ sounds like. I can probably make a reasonable guess based on what I know of West as well as this take by Richard Spitzer a.k.a. Nite Club. I can also guess that I’d probably like Spitzer’s version better either way. I’m not blown away by any means, but it’s a pleasant enough tune in his hands.
I’m far more impressed by his original music, which is very much in a Dntel/Postal Service vein (speaking of which, where’s that second Postal Service record? Shouldn’t we have had that by now?). It’s a very warm, indie-sweethearts-in-love kind of tune. A hypnotic lullaby that slowly rocks you to sleep, if you will. Spitzer started out in the rave scene, and has apparently been making his bones touring with diverse headliners like The Rapture, The Roots, The Locust and even Kool Keith, which might account for the wide range of styles present in his music.

you’ve never heard the original GOOD LIFE??
Is it the one they made fun of on South Park? I’ve only heard like 3 or 4 Kanye West songs and I didn’t like any of them (especially the one where he samples Daft Punk – blech!).
His album College Dropout actually has some choice tracks on it. Pretty much everything after that has been negligible.
