A very big house in the country
In case the blog name didn’t give it away, I’m a crazy Blur fan. They are probably my favorite band of all time. Imagine my delight when I heard Graham would be welcomed back into the fold and they’d reunite for live shows for the first time in nearly 8 years! Ecstatic doesn’t quite cover it. Blur are just that band that came along at the right time and made an indelible impression on my musical psyche.
The band recently played their first gig at the East Anglican Railway Museum (an interesting choice). From the looks of the clips uploaded to Youtube (thanks to Youtube user joejoejoehearn for the excellent quality), the band are as lively and together as ever. I’ve seen them twice – once in 1997, then Graham-less in 2003 – and both times I walked away thrilled. This performance might put both of my personal experiences to shame, though. They even played ‘Country House’, which they all notoriously hate!
Watching and listening to the event, where most every song is echoed by the enthusiastic audience just makes me that much more determined to catch them when they come around to the states. Notice I don’t say *if* they come. I have no doubts! THEY WILL COME.
In other Blur news, Alex James has joined the Hooky-less New Order and formed Bad Lieutenant. A debut album is due out this October. How it might sound is anyone’s guess.
