Adam Freeland @ Adult Swim
Two friends of mine started a very cool party in downtown Phoenix last year called Adult Swim. Jared Allan & William Reed are two of the biggest movers & shakers in Phoenix nightlife, and last year they decided to turn their sights on the daytime as well. Originally held at the historic San Carlos, the party has since grown and moved to the swanky Wyndham Hotel. It’s an afternoon of lounging by the pool, dancing by the pool and drinking by the pool, though probably not in that exact order (I’d say it probably starts with the drinking, which leads to the dancing that results in the eventual lounging).
This Fourth of July weekend (July 5th, the be exact), they lined up former Brighton resident Adam Freeland for a rare stateside DJ appearance. Mr. Freeland is out and about promoting his new band – appropriately called Freeland – and the release of their debut album, Cope. It’s a sort of punky disco turn, with guest appearances by Brody Dalle of Spinnerette, Joey Santiago of The Pixies and Tommy Lee. Yeah. Just imagine all those people in a room. I doubt they were ever in a room, but just imagine what it would be like. A trip, to be sure.
The good news for you Phoenix residents is that I can get you and a friend in for free! Just email me with ‘Adult Swim/Adam Freeland Giveaway’ in the subject line and the person with the fastest trigger finger will be dancing poolside to some Freeland beats.
For those of us not lucky enough to attend, you can check out his latest mix below, as well as a sampling from the new album.

great stuff guys! keep up the good work.
I went to this event, it was a blast!
Not enough people dancing though.
Ahh, that’s par for the course at Phx events sometimes. I imagine the heat played a factor, though.
