Have Blur broken up already?

Blur

I’m horrified to even consider such a thing, but Spinner ran the following headline today: Blur Overcome Coxon’s Illness to Play Possible ‘Last Gig’. Whaaaa?

Frontman Damon Albarn said, “We nearly didn’t make it. Graham literally walked out of a hospital to come here. He’s alright. This is our last gig.” But there were no details on whether this finale was just for the summer or for good.

Okay, phew. So maybe Spinner are jumping the gun a bit. Apparently, Graham had some oysters for lunch on Sunday and became so violently ill that he had to be rushed to the hospital. The boys in Snow Patrol apparently delayed their own performance to buy Blur time to see if Coxon was going to make it. He did, and they went on to play a 15 song set.

As for Damon’s ‘last gig’ comment…who knows? I’d think it would be a bit on the extreme end to break up the band because Graham became nauseated from bad oysters, but I suppose stranger things have happened. Let’s cross our fingers, though.

I’m going to admit, I was intrigued by your site name, which is how I found you. Imagine my delight to find an mp3 blog with Blur love! Anyway, just wanted to say that I really like your website. Your layout is especially nice, and I enjoy the fact that you’ve been covering some of the latest Blur news as well.

Oh, and as far as them breaking up is concerned…I’m worried too, but I think that Damon Albarn tends to talk things up a bit much sometimes. So hopefully, everything will turn out okay.

It never ceases to surprise me how animated Damon is on stage. I always had this mental image of him having a Liam Gallagher stage presence, instead he’s more David Lee Roth :D

Yeah, I’ve seen them twice and both times Damon went absolutely mental on stage. He’s a great frontman. When I saw Oasis, on the other hand, they were totally disengaged from the audience. The only time things got lively was when Liam & Noel starting fighting.
