A Raveonettes song even Keath might like

Another musical act the Keathster and I disagree on is The Raveonettes. He claims every album sounds the same and that there’s nothing interesting to be found in their musical output. I, on the other hand, think he’s broken the lock on the medicine cabinet and indulged in some crazy pills. Costco-sized crazy pills!

But then I heard this new Raveonettes song, ‘Last Dance’. I think there’s a possibility even Keath might like this. It shies away from their typical lo-fi sound, and they end up indulging in a little electro dreampop that would have sat comfortably on the soundtrack to a long lost John Hughes teen drama.

Admit it Keath, this is good!

  1. I admit it, this is good! It’s nice to see them expand into a new sound – my problem was they never did anything but JAMC retread lo-fi. And if you never do anything new, how am I supposed to know you can do anything new. This is proof. I am satisfied.

Now if you’ll excuse me, as everything I’ve henceforth understood about the world has been knocked askew, I’ll have to recalibrate my thinking …

    • Haha. Well, we’ve had that JAMC argument before so I won’t rehash it, but I’m glad you like it! When I heard this I had to post it immediately because I just knew this might break your Raveonettes ban.

If I keep addressing posts to you people might start to think we’re married. In San Francisco and Massachusetts, anyway.

  2. Nah, it just reinforces the idea that music bloggers write for each other :)
