La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy
If I didn’t know better, I’d swear La Roux’s Elly Jackson was created in a laboratory by splicing genes from Tilda Swinton and Annie Lennox. In fact, I’m not entirely sure I do know better. If someone can pass along their contact information, I’ll see about having them make me an Elly of my very own. Hey, what do you mean I sound creepy?
Very cool video, I won’t even bother trying to explain it as 99% of videos don’t make any sense anyway (nor do they really need to). Elly’s playing a very cool party aboard a cruise ship, and it might be the future but it looks like Miami Vice. She’s fronting a girl group and wearing a tux that would make Cab Calloway jealous. Fun stuff.
The single will be out Sept 28th on CD, picture disc, 7″ vinyl, 12″ vinyl and digital download. It will include remixes by Jack Beats and DatA – the latter is the clear winner for me, but that’s no surprise as I don’t think I’ve heard a DatA remix I didn’t like.
Spliced genes from Tilda Swinton and Annie Lennox–Ha ha! That’s a great description! That hair-do was invented by Dairy Swirl, I swear. It’s so impossible, I love it.
