Some Velvet Morning
Nancy Sinatra’s magnificence cannot be disputed. So don’t even try, fella. Sure, she sang a slightly creepy romantic duet with her dad, but at least he was still alive at the time (I’m looking at you, Natalie Cole). But who am I kidding? I’ve sung ‘Somethin’ Stupid’ when no one was looking.
Miss Go Go Boots is releasing a special compilation of some of her more obscure single releases between 1970 and 1980, called Cherry Smiles. The 12 tracks included were previously only available on 45s, except for ‘There Ain’t No Way’ and ‘Southern Lady’, which have never been released. The only bummer is it is a digital-only release. I’m as supportive of the digital revolution as the next guy, but how cool would it have been if this had been released with a special collector’s edition with all the reissued 45s? I’d have bought it! Still, beggar’s can’t be choosers, can they? I’ll take Nancy any way I can get her.
Cherry Smiles will be out September 22nd on Boots Enterprises (her personal label).
