Eva & The Heartmaker
Sort of like Little Boots fronting The Ting Tings? If Nina Person had founded Letters to Cleo? Agnetha Fältskog joining Veruca Salt? Ummm…I’ve exhausted my supply of ‘like X crossed with Y!’ comparisons. But hopefully you get the general idea here. It’s fun, poppy, and light-hearted. At first, I was worried it would be too cutesy, and I was ready to turn it off after ‘you got me trippin’. But I stuck with it, and I have to confess that it works its way under your skin pretty quickly. The lyrics are admittedly not a strength, but how often do pop lyrics mean much of anything? The tune itself is so catchy you forget the lyrics pretty quickly. I have a feeling that Eva & The Heartbreaker could end up surprising us all with their debut.
