Orenda Fink

Somehow, I’ve never quite connected with Orenda Fink. I always liked her, and in fact I have her first record. I even liked Azure Ray. But for some reason it’s never been a go-to record for me. Can someone explain the fickle fluctuations of my mysterious heart? Because now it’s most certainly fallen head over heels for her new song. It’s a lovely little slice of the sort of indie folk that Saddle Creek seems to excel at releasing. Orenda sings of a love whose heart has turned to stone, and who she now flees from like a rush of floodwater. It’s an old story, but one we never seem to tire of.

I’ve always been a bigger Maria Taylor fan after Azure Ray so I hear what you’re saying – but this is a gorgeous track. Count me on the same wavelength.

Orenda Fink is very enticing – I haven’t dug into her albums yet but everytime a track flies across my radar I’m thinking “why aren’t I listening to her more?”

Lee, I really like Maria Taylor myself. But this is just great!
