Jesus H Foxx

I really am thankful that I’ve been able to develop relationships with other blogs and bloggers, however casual or fleeting they might prove to be. Not only have I had a chance to get to know some really interesting people from just about every background you can imagine, I’ve also been turned on to some really brilliant music that I likely never would have heard under other circumstances. And hey, that’s what this whole blogging thing is supposed to be about, right? Community, sharing and discovery. Sounds like the start of an excellent Sesame Street episode.

And that brings us to this fine band, Jesus H Foxx. I’d probably have not been introduced to their music were it not for the fine music blog, Song By Toad. This is simply a beautifully constructed and cohesive 20 odd minutes of musical joy. There are overtures and intermissions, and the whole thing just flows in an incredibly natural way. It wasn’t really what I expected, though to be fair, I’m not sure what I expected. A name like Jesus H Foxx doesn’t really tell you a great deal.

I can’t immediately think of a way to classify this, other than to say at times it makes me think of Scott Walker, Andrew Bird and Beirut, all rolled up into one delicious, messy musical empanada. So I’ll settle for classifying it as good. Really, really good.

You can purchase the band’s EP, Matter, right here.
