New Lissy Trullie
I figure having been a model comes in quite handy when it comes to press and promo shots. I’ve seen some truly awkward promotional photos in my day, but for Lissy Trullie this must be all be old hat. Though I’m left wondering – with all the excellent press shots she has, why oh why this awful cover for her new record? Having expressed my existing prejudice about bad record covers earlier today, I have to say that ass + stripper heals probably would have given me the wrong idea about how promising an artist she is. But hey, no one’s perfect, right?
In the month since I first posted it, I have to say her cover of Hot Chip’s ‘Ready For The Floor’ has really, really grown on me. I thought it was pretty smart to begin with, but every time I hear it again it somehow improves. Maybe part of that is the brilliance of the original, admittedly, but her delivery on that song really works for me. She has a new tune to share with us now, one that wasn’t on her original EP. It’s called ‘Dont To Do’, and it’s more 50s pop by way of 70s punk much like her previous output, but I think it’s a really strong tune, even better than ‘Boy Boy’. I’m thinking she may just surprise everyone with that debut LP this year. And how amazing/awful/intriguing does a Biz Markie cover with Adam Green sound? You know you have to hear that.
