New Release Tuesday

It’s a sparse new release Tuesday ’round these parts…

I may not be the biggest Foo Fighters fan, but I’d be a liar if I said ‘Everlong’ didn’t dominate my summer of ’97. Who would have thought there was a massive career in pop waiting for Dave Grohl at the end of Nirvana? I definitely didn’t. Nonetheless, the multi-instrumentalist established himself as a major player in the 90s alternative music scene. I couldn’t tell you how many albums he’s made or what they’re called, but songs like the aforementioned ‘Everlong’ or ‘Monkeywrench’ or ‘Big Me’ (remember the Mentos-inspired vid that accompanied it?) are undeniably catchy. I feel like most Greatest Hits packages are a bad place for people to start with a band, because oftentimes singles aren’t really indicative of their other material. Foo Fighters are really what I’d call a singles band though, so this is probably as good a place to begin as any.

I had completely forgotten about how ridiculously awesome the Foo Fighters are.. every song on the “Hits” is ACTUALLY great. Even if you're not a fan, definitely worth a listen for nostalgia's sake.
