Fyfe Dangerfield – Fly Yellow Moon
I have been lucky enough to meet and interview a whole heap of artists, but one of the most down to earth and pleasant was Fyfe. I had arranged to interview labelmates White Lies who failed to show, and Fyfe kindly stepped in and despite my obvious lack of research spent a good half an hour chatting away.

This solo offering kinda sums up his whole laidback and down to earth attitude. I find it pretty refreshing when so many less talented artists are full of self-importance. I digress … “When You Walk in the Room” is the first track on Fyfe Dangerfield’s forthcoming new album Fly Yellow Moon, due in January 2010. Fyfe and producer Adam Noble say it was the fastest and most fun track to record during the album sessions.
Speaking of which, every track on Fly Yellow Moon sounds different. The idea was to record as many songs as possible in the time available, so everything from full-on pop to stripped-down balladry has found its way into the final tracklisting. As such there was no room, or need, for preciousness – for example, the piano on “When You Walk in the Room” was recorded as a demo at Dangerfield’s parents’ house in Ludlow, Shropshire, on the family piano that’s been kicking around for decades. It sounded right, so it stayed. That same carefree spirit carries through the entire album.
