Is anyone home?

I’ve taken a sort of vacation from the blog recently. Well, not a vacation exactly, but with the addition of Mark & Keath (and Desiree in the New Year) I’ve felt less inclined to make a mad dash through my inbox to find something interesting. I think it’s beneficial because it’s slowing me down a bit, and I can actually savor some of these songs rather than quickly moving on to the next mp3 meal. I’ve always tried to do that regardless, but having backup certainly makes it easier!

Ultimately, I think I felt intimidated by the idea of doing a year-end best of or a decade best of. They both seemed impossible, so it was much easier to just avoid everything blog-related. Since then, I think I’ve become comfortable with the idea of skipping them all together. Or at least putting it off until the year is actually over and I can fully absorb all the releases, a.k.a. ‘The excuse I’m offering for why I haven’t done it yet that sounds like I’m more thoughtful than I really am’.

I finally got around to watching 500 Days of Summer last night, and despite my fears that it might be drenched in hipster clichè, it was a very cute little flick. It featured a lot of uncomfortable music references that felt forced, a la Garden State, but it was easy to look passed them. The Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’ wasn’t one of those forced references, though it did play several times throughout. Mark talked about these guys several months back, but I have to admit I didn’t get much chance to dive into their album beyond one or two songs. Not included in those one or two songs was the wonderful ‘Sweet Disposition’, but after hearing it multiple times during the movie last night, I’m hooked.

Love 'Sweet Disposition” – it's my current ringtone actually!

I really liked 500 Days, all except for that last line. “Hi… I'm Autumn…” Ugh!

Ahh Agnes, I know the line was a bit cheesy, but it gave me a chuckle :)
