The New Year’s Burdens Are Our Good Fortune

[via]
Well the first full week of the new year has certainly brought its fair share of excellent music. In fact, I’ve got a bit of a backup already. I’ll need to do plenty of stretches so I don’t throw my back out getting all these treats online.
Serious Business Records has released their annual compilation for free download. I always enjoy compilations because they alert me to bands I’d probably otherwise miss. Take, for instance, The Unsacred Hearts and The Two Man Gentlemen Band – both these bands are new to me and I’m very pleased to make their acquaintance!

There’s more activity from my favorite “Let’s Be Hip But Get The Legal Department’s Sign Off First” company Mtn Dew (formerly Mountain Dew), whom are providing good music in conjunction with an extended contract you must agree to in order to download said music. It’s both befuddling and hilarious but you can’t argue with the results: this Tanlines remix of Solid Gold’s “Matter of Time” is exceedingly enjoyable.
Magic Wands have let loose a slightly extended version of “Kiss Me Dead,” which gives you an extra 30 seconds or so but retains the Jesus And Mary Chain guitar/feedback style. I think we can all agree this is an effective formula for success.
