Alyson Greenfield: Dear Lilith Fair 2010
I love this! Brooklyn singer/songwriter Alyson Greenfield is “putting her best blog forward” in hopes of getting a slot on the 2010 Lilith Fair line up. “For an emerging feminist singer/songwriter, there is nothing bigger than the return of Lilith Fair. I’m using the blog as a platform to show why I believe I would not only fit in with the line up, but add something to it as well.”
Alyson posts new content regularly including anecdotes relating to Lilith Fair and free MP3s like: “Glitz and Glamour,” a song about her time working as part of Madonna’s entourage; “Captain Planet,” a song about the 90’s environmental cartoon superhero; “Happy New Year Lilith Fair,” a dance track written specifically to Lilith Fair; a cover of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” on a glockenspiel; and a rare at home performance of she and Grammy Award Winning Songwriter Dave Merenda (Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You”) singing “I Will Remember You.”
The blog has already been recognized by Terry McBride, Co-Founder of Lilith Fair, and Alyson has also seen attention from Paste, Relix, Beyond Race, The Deli, Beatcrave, Fox Television, and Rubyfruit Radio (SPIN’s Essential Mix). Her most recent release, “Tuscaloosa,” was engineered by Denise Barbarita (Mary J. Blige, David Byrne) and features Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) on bass.
