The Weakerthans: Upcoming Live Album Details
I cannot express to you how unbelievably excited I was to hear back in January that The Weakerthans were releasing a live album/concert film. Undeniably one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to was The Weakerthans with Lowest of the Low and Billy Bragg (unrelenting energy from each and every act), so I can attest, this is sure to be awesome!
The CD/DVD will be called Live at the Burton Cummings Theatre and is set to be released March 23 via Anti- Records. It will offer “a jubilant testament to the Winnipeg band’s considerable creative powers as both literary-minded songwriters and charismatic live performers.” And to top it off, the cover is a painting done by bassist Greg Smith (see above).
Live at the Burton Cummings Theatre CD/DVD:
1. “Everything Must Go”
2. “Tournament of Hearts”
3. “Our Retired Explorer (Dines with Michel Foucault in Paris in 1969)”
4. “Night Windows”
5. “Reconstruction Site”
6. “Aside”
7. “Civil Twilight”
8. “Bigfoot”
9. “Plea from a Cat Named Virtute”
10. “The Reasons”
11. “Sun in an Empty Room”
12. “Left and Leaving”
13. “Wellington’s Wednesdays”
14. “Benediction”
15. “Manifest”
16. “One Great City!”
17. “This is a Fire Door Never Leave Open”
18. “Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure”
* The video below isn’t the best, but does show how awesome the band is live (and also shows why it would be great to have a live concert DVD from the band done by a pro so I no longer have to rely on youtube alone to view this band live when they’re not touring).
