Breathtaking and stunningly beautiful, this is quite simply the crossover album of the year. Catching A Tiger drops on 21st June on Columbia Records. From the opener ‘Record Collector’ through to ‘Oh Mississippi’, there is not one track that doesn’t cut the mustard. She delivers powerful, emotionally charged ballads with consummate ease alongside the more upbeat tracks.
I have been drawn into making comparisons with Stevie Nicks before, but from this debut onwards Lissie should need no introduction or comparisons to be drawn. We have had Florence, Duffy, Adele and Amy and now we have a talent every inch as big in Lissie. Like Amy, this girl can write from the heart. Tracks like ‘Bully’ and ‘Everywhere I Go’ will tear at your heart strings.
Lissie is so much more than the latest hyped up artist, she has a depth to her songwriting and a voice to match. Besides the blues-orientated tracks like ‘Little Lovin’ and radio-friendly ‘In Sleep’, we get an early 60′s girl group feel from ‘Stranger’ that has grown steadily to be one of my favourites. But despite having played it constantly for the last six months, I never tire of ‘Everywhere I Go’. Live it had me in tears. This record is without doubt going to be one of the bestselling debuts of 2010. The great thing is that having met Lissie I get the feeling she will cope just fine with the pressures this will bring. Lissie is my female artist of the year – ask me in December and this will still be my album of the year!

Been a fan of Lissie, ever since i heard ‘Everywhere I Go’ on we7.com last November. Saw her live in Feb at her own ‘BBC Introducing’ gig in Feb, and was mesmerised by that voice, songwriting, and passionate and electric presence on stage. She is truly on her way to massive success and i’m so proud to have shared the intimacy of a tiny gig with her and 50 early adopters way back… Buy this album, but make sure you see her live set too…
