Joy Formidable Video Pack

Ahh memories, like the corners of my mind. I remember when The Joy Formidable were but a glint in the internet’s collective eye, but so much has changed in the last few years. They’ve managed to ride a wave of well-deserved blog and mainstream praise to great success. They even found themselves on a 3 day stint in New York City with Passion Pit last January.
But everyone has to start somewhere, and I remember the first video that the band put out. Well, technically the band didn’t put it out. An anonymous fan put together several clips from Beautiful Agony for a makeshift video of ‘Austere’. I remember talk about it being somewhat risquè because the images were of people climaxing, but apparently it was considered so naughty it was banned from YouTube. Go figure.
Thankfully, we live in the internet age and if there’s one thing the internet is good at, it’s archiving. IFC have put together a collection of the band’s first 4 videos, including the apparently offensive vid for ‘Austere’. You can download them at IFC’s website or via the widget below. It will cost you one email address. But be sure to check out Ritzy’s commentary for each on the IFC website.
