Playfest: The UK’s Newest Festival

As with all the best ideas, Playfest started out as a late night conversation over a few drinks by a circle of friends who were events organisers. The past few months have seen it evolve very quickly into an exciting new player on the festival front. Having been involved in some meetings with the organisers, I’m pleased to say that BIYL will be getting involved with both full scale coverage pre-festival and also during the festival.

As if that was not enough to make you want to rush out and buy a ticketm I have also been given some slots to fill on the yet-to-be-announced acoustic stage. The artists I have picked are some of the site favourites and will be revealed early next week! This festival will be held in the splendid grounds of New Eccles Hall Quidenham, Norfolk (just off The A11), and it takes me back to when a certain festival in nearby Suffolk started five years ago. There is a diverse lineup catering for all tastes, with a cracking main stage line up as well as the big top stage showcasing up-and-coming talent. Additionally, the dance arena and burlesque bar are sure to be a big attraction in and of themselves!

The event is also a fantastic value, with weekend camping tickets priced at only £65.00 and £37.50 for day tickets. The setting is pretty stunning with enough space for everyone to be able to truly relax in comfort. Both headliners Frank Turner and The Futureheads are cracking live acts, if you throw King Blues and Darwin Deez into the mix along with the supporting cast, it seems to me that this is a festival to embrace and enjoy. There is a full list of artists confirmed so far on the main website along with ticket details. And if you fancy a chance to win a slot on the main stage, there is a competition running on the festival’s Twitter page.
