Duologue – A B
Having warmed to the self-titled debut EP from this London-based experimental quintet, this follow-up -dropping 7th November on Wild Game – has caught my attention in equal measure. The band are obviously highly talented, having completely put the whole package together themselves. For me they fall somewhere between the sublime and the ridiculous. Certain parts of the technological experimentation push the boundaries beyond the pale for me. However, if you skip beyond the multi-layered chaos of the EP’s opening track, there are gems to be found in the shape of ‘Push It’, and the stunning closing track ‘Endless Imitation’. Maybe it’s through the more industrial influences that they get the inspiration for the multi-layered yet beautifully simplistic sound they create on the aforementioned songs. It’s very rare that a four track EP can polarise my views in such a stark way. There is a whole heap of potential in these folks, that’s for sure, and I hope we get a longplayer in the not-too-distant future.
In addition, the band remixed a counterpart EP to their debut release and collaborated with up-and-coming director and VJ, Lewis Kyle White (2 Many DJ’s, Radio Soulwax, Crystal Fighters) to produce four remix videos currently being hosted online at www.duologuemusic.co.uk.
