A friend of mine came back from SXSW raving about this L.A-based collective. It was one of those times when the band’s name had me shying away from too much further exploration. I expected some sort of post-Gothic thrash metal outfit who would make my ears bleed. How wrong could I have been! There is more than a passing nod to all that was good way back in the late 70s with that New Wave sound that eminated from the depths of the famous CCGB club in New York. It seems to me that there is a dearth of decent bands playing two-minute dervish reverb-soaked-pop with a twist. Both tracks on this first UK release via indie label Gravy are more than worthy of your hard earned cash. The single was recorded with Eric Nordhauser at L.A. hot spot Infrasonic Studios (No Age, Best Coast, Fools Gold, Abe Vigoda, Wavves). I really hope they make the journey over to the UK at some stage, as I would imagine the live show is a total cacophony of noise not to be missed.
